Starbucks

I am so disappointed. I decided (for once) to order something from Starbucks. I rarely drink anything but tea, and only go for Starbucks when I want a real treat. So I asked for a Tall Skim Vanilla latte. Well, guess what? It tastes like warm milk... no espresso, and it's not even hot. I just sent my colleauge (and cousin) back to get me a proper drink! I am so sad they messed this one up.

In other news, Philly tomorrow yayayayayay! We have a great weekend plan... making meatballs for Pb's Aunt's Superbowl party, a birthday party to see Hannah Montana (PBs cousin is turning 10!), runs on Kelly Drive, and finally going to watch Borat! Can't wait!!! Counting down the hoursssss

major case of the Mondays

It's seven months later... and the weekends are getting much harder. This weekend was a killer. I. Did. Not. Want. To. Leave.

It is really nice to be able to spend entire weekends together, but those early morning Monday drives to the airport kill. I try to be strong, because I know it is only time keeping us apart, and one day that will change, but boy is it hard.

Thank goodness we are not going two weeks for another three weekends at least.

missing him. can't wait for my next SW flight...

countdown = 4 days.

Transitional Services

It is amazing that with such a simple concept as transitional services, not everyone uses it. The Firenze girls and I SWORE by transitional services when studying abroad. It was the first time any of us had to walk to every destination in the cold weather (city living is so fun!) and we didn't know what else to do besides bundle up, wear stockings under our clothes, and stop frequently in the stores along our path.

Then came along Transitional Services....

The rules are simple:

1. Bundle up as well as you possibly can... but only do so at the very LAST minute before leaving your warm abode.
2. When entering any warm zone, IMMEDIATELY take off as many layers as possible (even if you are still cold). This way when you have to re-enter the world of frightful coldness, you have a couple of warm layers to add to help you out (easiest transitional service items are coats, gloves, scarves and hats)

SO many times I see a girl in a clothing store all bundled up in her coat... when she leaves to walk to her car she is going to FREEZE as she has no extra protection from inside the store to out.. However, had she used transitional services, she would have had her nice warm coat to bundle her up against the cold.

Dear Prudence, and other things that excite me...

I am wondering if I am the only geek in my group of friends...

I just realized I have some really weeeeird habits... some examples....

-When I am bored at work (not for lack of work, but for lack of motivation) and I realize it is Thursday- which means that Slate's Dear Prudence article comes out- I get so excited I feel like I am going to burst and I bounce a little in my seat as I go to the site
-Now that I am taking these classes at my gym, I realize I MUST set everything up just so before class... prep $1 for bottled water, buy said water, put coat in locker, check hair, retie shoes, go wait outside the room, do 3 specific stretches while waiting for the previous class to end, walk in, put my water down by the middle column, retie shoes, fix hair. soooo weeeeird! (p.s. I am LOVING these classes!!!!)
-I feel so awkward when I am going to leave voice messages for PB that I end up saying a few cutesy repetitive phrases in a sing song voice before abruptly saying errr ok byeeee (example: Looonnnneeeeeyyy tunnnnne looonnneeey tunnneee. you think I am a looooonnneeeyyy tune) hello, awk? obv with a song like that he is going to think I am a looney tune haha!

Anywayyyyy Happy Thursday everyone, I am SO excited that it is almost the weekend. Two weeks without PB has been wayyyy tooo long!

It's always a bad idea to go to the market hungry.

Last night I headed over to my local supermarket after work to pick up some majorly needed supplies... Even though I was starving I was keeping it semi-healthy: bananas, lettuce, peanut butter, oranges, eggs, olive oil, a new magazine, cinnamon rolls (for my girls' brunch this sunday! yummm), tomatoes, slice and bake chocolate chip cookies, balsamic vinegar.... grapes.

When I went to the register and the woman rang up my bunch of grapes it came up as $8.54!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder it is so hard to eat well! Of course I just COULDN'T rationalize spending that much on grapes, so I sadly left them behind.

Gym classes: Day 1 Bootcamp

Yesterday I took my first class at my gym since I joined back up almost 3 years ago. I don't know why I had been avoiding them but I think I just wanted full control of my workouts... After last night I have decided to throw that idea out the window!

Now that my gym made classes at times I could actually make, I decided to check them out. Last night was BOOTCAMP. Let me tell you... for one hour straight I was dyinnnnnngggg! I am so sore today that even putting my hair in a ponytail or going up the stairs is hard!!

I can't wait for the next class!

Tonight they have kickboxing and the very convenient time of 6:30 pm... just enough time to run home from work, change and head over!

I just might have to go!

Guitar Hero III until the Wii hours of the night

A few years ago, upon being invited for a night of old school Nintendo (blowing on the game to make the work, using the genie to sneak through levels, etc, you get my drift), I remember telling one of my friends...."I am not really a video game kind of a girl"

Well, I seriousllllly take it back.

On Friday I bought PB the new Guitar Hero for the Wii. We both have become serious addicts. Friday night when he (finally) got in he, Mzoof and I set it up and learned how to play. After a couple of hours we called it a night.

Saturday day consisted of several hours of Wii with a trip to Verizon and an awesome jog outside squeezed in the middle. At night, dinner with dad then snuck back home to play more Wii. We found my cousin frozen in the same position as before dinner, still playing the Easy levels. Welcome to the crazy world, cousin. (Another convert to add to the list!!)

Sunday morning we awoke to thrashing dreams of beating this one battle we couldn't beat. Rannnnn downstairs and kept playing til we rocked against Morello. Then off for another run, quick lunch break, and yet MORE guitar hero.

I was really sad to see the Guitar Hero (and PB) head off to Philly this morning.

Back to the real world

A reflection

As I sit here at work on a Tuesday afternoon I realize how much has changed over the last year. With the rush of Christmas and the new year with a long distance love I had forgotten to take a moment to reflect on what has changed in the last year. I rang in the last New Year's Eve with all of my brother's closest friends and family as he and my beautiful sister-in-law got married. It was a beautiful day and night celebrating a beautiful event, yet at the time I felt alone, like something was missing. Flash forward six months later and amid jokes of wearing the "perfect find a husband" dress to a friend's wedding, exactly that happened (oddly enough): I found the BEST man to spend my life with. He was right there in front of me, waiting for me. It's amazing how among all those jokes, the truth was actually there waiting for me...on the altar, at the cocktail hour, next to me at my table.

What a lovely surprise! So I look back and appreciate all the changes PB has brought to my life... weekends in Philly, weekends in Rhodey... a game of Ping pong each weekend, taking turns on who the winner is. Learning to cook, running with a partner! Finding out what I really love and treasure about my life. Having just as much fun partying downtown (or center city) as sitting on the couch playing cento or the Wii. Loving PB fully and wholly, melting just a little bit each time he smiles at me, each time he tells me a secret, each time he looks at me. He is the one for me.

So when I think about this new year, 2008, I get excited... I dream of the possibilities that this year in love will offer... and I can't wait for the unexpected surprises and twists and turns and smiles and tears and everything that this year will bring.

Back to reality

I never realized how much of a Virgo I could be until I panicked this morning that I didn't have any current to-do list!

So, of course, I made one:

1. go to Michaels to buy stuff to make XXXXXXXXXXX for PB for Valentine's day (in case he somehow reads this blog I don't want him to know what it is!!!)

2. clean out my closets and drawers (I am on serious overload, and everything is a mess wahhhhh)

3. unpack from marvelous weekend away

4. do laundry (this is on every single to do list I have!)

5. ??????????

looks like things are finally slowing down a little hip hip hooray!

Look who we bumped into this weekend

PB's dad took his lady friend, PB and I down to Palm Beach for a fundraiser gala. Boy was it a weekend of fun! Friday we had a great dinner at Cucina. Saturday PB and I ran outside (OUTSIDE!) in tank tops and shorts and we were still sweating! Then a walk along the prettiest streets of town before settling in to get ready for the evening's event. Got all dolled up and partied like rock stars! I love live bands!!! Sunday a nice long brunch at Mar-A-Lago followed by a tour. Then off to the airport and back to work and the cold weather!!!!

brrr day #2

Some people are cold.

I am one of these people.

I have had at least 4 cups of tea in the last 4 hours. That's a cup of tea/hour for you non ..simple math.. types.

For lunch I am having a bowl of chicken soup.

I am typing like an idiot because the fingers are so cold. Work is moving at a snail's pace due to above listed cold fingers.

I complain, but I don't mean to. When I am cold it is what I do. I want the world to know that I am cold, that even a hat, gloves, scarf, thermal undershirt, and northface fleece won't do it in a place this cold.

I can't wait for the nice heater repairman to be done.. he will be the hero of the day.

In other annoying news, my condo is also suffering from no electricity... which ALSO means no heat! i really really realllllly hope that National Grid saves the day and we have heat by the time we get homeeee!

on a warmer note, palm beach tomorrow!! yay!

the holidays

what a crazy crazy week!

champagne risotto, Wii games, panini makers, naps, work, gym, apples to apples, dreams, families joining together, diamonds, smiles, love, long drives, new books, tea, soup, snow, warmth....

it was an amazing week of nonstop fun and love.

now it's back to work for 2 days, then a weekend in florida!!!

According to PB, I should be awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Temperature Related Drama. It is very very cold in my office today, so i have detached the hood from my winter coat and put it on. i look like a skunk, but i am definitely, definitely not as cold anymore. tomorrow i'll be busting out the 8 year old fur boots!

love!

p.s. please note that i am not that dramatic and my lips are actually BLUE!!!
